Our Bishop




Bishop Photios (Sladojevic) is 
born on February 1, 1961 in Dujakovci, Municipality of Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He completed primary school in Čurug, and secondary school in Novi Sad. In 1988, he graduated from the Faculty of Theology in Belgrade. He spends the next two years in post-graduate studies in Erlangen, Germany. After returning from Germany, on the feast of St. Demetrius in 1990, he received the monastic tonsure in the Kovilj monastery near Novi Sad, in the Diocese of Bačka, of Serbian Orthodox Church. In the same year, on the feast of St. Archangel Michael, Bishop Irineious of Bačka ordained him as a hierodeacon, and on the feast of St. Sava in 1991, as a Hierotmonk.
 
In the period from 1992 to 1993, hieromonk Photious was a priest monk  in the Bođani monastery, and for the next five years (1993-1998) his obedience was a professor in the seminary of Saint Arsenious in Sremski Karlovci. In the year 1999 he was elected for Bishop of Dalmatia.
 
In 1999, on the feast of the Pentecost, in the Cathedral Church in Sremski Karlovci, he was ordained as , and on the feast of Saint Luke the Apostle and Saint Peter of Cetinje, on 31. October 1999  he was enthroned in the Cathedral Church in Šibenik as a Bishop of Dalmatia.

 Holy Synod of SOC in 2000 appointed Bishop Photios to be a  rector of the renovated Theological Seminary of the Holy Three Hierarchs in the Krka monastery.
 
During the period of his work in the Diocese of Dalmatia, the restoration of church life and church buildings began, also publishing and catechetical activity has revived. Bishop Photios devoted special attention to humanitarian work with returnees and people in the war-ravaged areas of the Diocese of Dalmatia.
 
At the regular session of the Holy Assembly of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church in 2017, Bishop Photius was elected as the Bishop of Zvornik-Tuzla with headquarters in Bijeljina.
